Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2025 · Applies to galdo.github.io/aurora

This page explains what data is processed when you visit the Aurora Pulse & Vibe Launcher project website at https://galdo.github.io/aurora/ and the related GitHub repository.

TL;DR. The website uses Google Analytics with anonymized IP to count visits and understand which sections people read. The desktop and Android apps themselves are local-first and do not phone home — analytics live exclusively on this website.

1. Controller

This is a personal open-source project run by the maintainer of the galdo/aurora repository on GitHub. For privacy-related questions please open an issue at github.com/galdo/aurora/issues or contact via the email address listed on the GitHub profile.

2. Hosting

The website is published as a GitHub Pages site by GitHub, Inc. (88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When you visit the page, GitHub may log technical request data (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) for the purpose of operating the service and protecting it against abuse. See GitHub’s privacy statement for details. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in providing a functioning website).

3. Web analytics — Google Analytics 4

This website uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (and Google LLC, USA). GA4 helps me understand which pages and sections of the site are visited, so I can prioritize where to invest time in documentation and design.

What is collected

The website does not collect your name, email, full address, or any other directly identifying personal information.

Measurement ID

The configured GA4 measurement ID is G-YLD5XBZ7N5. The data is processed in Google’s infrastructure and may be transferred to servers outside the EU/EEA, including the United States, under EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Legal basis & retention

Processing is based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR — legitimate interest in understanding and improving the website. Data is retained according to GA4’s default 14-month retention window unless you object earlier. You can find Google’s privacy information at policies.google.com/privacy.

How to opt out

4. The apps themselves

Aurora Pulse (desktop)

Aurora Pulse is intentionally local-first. Your library data, playback state, and app-level metadata stay on your computer. No analytics SDKs, no behavioural telemetry, no automatic phone-home. Optional online lookups (e.g. cover art / metadata enrichment) are only performed when you explicitly trigger them in the relevant workflow.

Vibe Music & Podcast Launcher (Android)

The Android app reads your local music library via Android’s standard MediaStore API and does not send your library, playback history, or device identifiers to any server. Podcast subscriptions reach out to the podcast feed URLs you add. See the Vibe Launcher privacy policy for the full details required for Google Play.

5. External links

The website links to third-party services (GitHub, Google Play, Buy Me A Coffee). When you follow such a link, the respective provider receives standard request data and may set its own cookies according to its own privacy policy. Please consult those policies separately:

6. Your rights under GDPR

If you are located in the EU/EEA, the GDPR grants you the following rights regarding personal data we process:

To exercise these rights, please open an issue at github.com/galdo/aurora/issues or use the contact channels on the maintainer’s GitHub profile.

7. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the project evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page reflects the most recent change. Substantial changes will be highlighted in the project changelog.
